  • Acts 16:5-15

We often make our own plans in life and ministry, but God has a perfect path that leads us to Him in salvation and uses us to glorify His name. Paul had planned to travel and establish churches in the far western corner of Asia Minor, in Bithynia and Mysia. However, God gave him a vision of a man saying, “Come to Macedonia and help us.” Paul immediately set out, traveling 1,000 miles to the city of Philippi, Greece. On the Sabbath, he went to the riverside where a group of women were praying. Among them was Lydia, a businesswoman from Thyatira, a seller of purple cloth. Paul shared the Gospel, and she accepted Christ as her Savior, along with her whole household and were baptized. Lydia welcomed the apostles into her home, using it as a base for evangelism in the new city, where the church in Philippi was founded. She later returned to her city and helped establish a church in Thyatira, mentioned in Revelation 2:18 as one of the key churches in the New Testament—God always knows best!
