The Purpose of Water Baptism

In the account, we saw how Jesus’ baptism was more than just a Baptism of Water, but the ordination of Jesus’ ministry, where He was honored by the Father and the (Godhead-Trinity-Elohim). Jesus fulfilled the law by the Mikvah cleansing that Moses did on Aaron (Tribe of Levi), and his sons as they entered into the priesthood for Israel, Leviticus 8:1-36. Jesus was a superior High Priest than Aaron, as He was a High Priest and (King of Righteousness--Melchizedek), because He (Jesus) was a Priest "without end-Eternal), Hebrews 7:11-17.

We also saw how the Greek word baptizo, meant “submerge, immerse, or dip”, corresponding with the picture of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Romans 6:3,4. To that, when we are baptized, we to as new believers identify with Christ and begin our public ministry as “His witnesses”, becoming “priests and kings”, to share the gospel with others, Acts 1:8, Revelation 1:6, I Peter 2:9.

Finally, we looked at several examples in scripture, in the New Testament, where new believers were baptized following their belief in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. One being the Salvation and Baptism of the Ethiopian Eunuch, by Deacon and Evangelist Philip, Acts 8:35-39. As the Church, we now follow in obedience Christ’s command to Baptize new believers, and teach them God’s Word through the local church, Matthew 28:19,20
